Think we have a couple, if it is, this plant is said to keep away Mosquitoes?
Look Through here, I believe they have a picture for every plant in Florida:

I've seen it around here (ohio), but i have no idea what it's called. i can't find any pictures of it online yet, but i'll keep looking.

edit: i think it's an amaranth plant. if I'm right, then it's edible. i would take a picture, or even part of a plant to a local botanist or garden center just to make sure, if you decide to eat it.

Hi! jingo1, and welcome to AMHD

One must keep an open mind when it pertains to nature, and this spaceship we call Earth.

Your Purple Amaranth, Red Amaranth, Prince's Feather, Mexican Grain Amaranth
Amaranthus cruentusis is listed as being in GB as far back as the early to mid 1800's
Lindley Library

Here are a few listings from THE ROYAL HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY

Hi! hheath541

Sage advice to have the plant properly identified, if it is to be consumed.

You are correct in your assumption that this plant is edible. Whether or not it is palatable is up to the consumer.

amaranth plant. if I'm right, then it's edible

there are too many plants, and even other things, that look like something edible and are actually harmful to consume. i always make sure that i know for SURE what something is and that it IS edible before consuming it.

Isn't amazing though, the faith we put in the grocer's when we go shopping.
