Upside down Tomatoes

Curiosity getting the better of me, I decided to try growing an upside down tomato plant, and being frugal, I made a planter out of a five gallon bucket It isn't as fancy, but why spend $20 if you have the parts?.

It has been outside for two weeks now, and is getting stronger, but there is one thing that I noticed; The main stem/stalk/trunk of the plant has started growing up, and I am assuming that after it sets fruit and they begin to grow, the stalk will grow downwards.

Which leads me to this thought/questions:
If the stalk is growing up, even though it is facing down, are the roots growing down, even though they are facing up??? Sounds almost like a paradox.

Would this add stress to the plant?

I also decided to put it up on an old pool deck, so if it starts to really grow I'll have enough support to just drape, and tie it around the deck.

As an ongoing project I'll update on an irregular schedule, maybe every two weeks.

Hi! everyone

Just a couple of things this morning.

Was thinking 'bout the asexual post and pollination, for now I'm giving the fruit stems a little shake to observe if it will produce more....more on Friday.

Found a Salsa recipe.....It's Fiesta Time

And just curious 'bout this mushroom, every morning it sprouts, grows to a little under 2" then dies off at night only to start over again the next day.

Wow, that was some reception last night for Dr. Dahlia!
I would of stayed later, but had to get Eddie to the airport, glad I stuck to the Bloody Mary's...sans alcohol.

k

I know nothing about mushrooms, except for the ones you eat and buy at the local grocer. I didn't even know that they died at night and could sprout that fast, I just always thought field mushrooms were beautiful and intriguing.

But, I am remiss with my speech, must have been those Bloody Marys KUXJ was sharing. I think he put something in mine.

::clears throat::

I'd like to thank...
*First of all the weather, even though it was not predictable as it usually is, with out weather we have nothing.

*I would like to thank Lowes for the 'pot' in which MAMA MIA has been living her life

*I really need to thank my 'hoarding' gene for saving the Miracle Grow for Tomatoes for years and my organizational skills for being able to find said Miracle Grow.

*My dogs for not digging up the plants

*and of course KUXJ, Binx44 for info and support through the many problems that have occurred

and who am I forgetting
oh yeah... Tick, Shaz and JMjoseph for their interest and recipe.

If I have forgotten anyone I apologize, it must be the Bloody Marys!

You would be amazed how quick some fungi can grow, let off spores and die off.. I think its amazing to watch them early in the morning. (i have wayyy to much time on my hands right now lol... that i actually watch the corn and mushrooms grow in the yard and field)

But, I am remiss with my speech, must have been those Bloody Marys KUXJ was sharing. I think he put something in mine.

LOL (thats when you just smile and ask for another one)

If you stop to think 'bout it, Mother Nature started “Location...Location...Location...She just never bragged 'bout it.
  • Pennsylvania
  • According to local lore “South Central"
  • Southeast corner of South Central location
  • Been growing in woody tanbark
  • pix were taken 72 minutes apart
  • I'd give you the Google Earth Co-ordinates, but then I'd have to dispose of the body
  • suffice it to say 40N ~ 77W
  • 'shrooms are circled, will have to make thicker next time
  • "I" think I smell another diploma.

Hear! Hear! Well Said!

Applause!! Applause!! Applause!! Applause!!

Well.....We couldn't find Celery stalks, and even though my new found 'shrooms look like parasols, I told Eddie, “Don't put them in the drinks!” He does mean well.
Don't feel bad, I'm wearin' the Foster Grants too.

Usually on a forum, writings that are contained in “Quotes” as in “Quote User” are similar to an image, and the server holds that image until it recognizes additional text outside of the boundaries of the “Quote Brackets”. Either [ or ]

A member is still allowed to modify the interior of that image, but again, the server is holding that “Image” until it “sees” additional input.

btw.....I liked what you were trying to do.

There is another technique called “Nested Quotes” an example is in/on UDT Page 17 ~ Post 163 .
http://www.askmehelpdesk.com/gardeni...352932-17.html
If you would like to see how that works, click on "Quote User" and study the code presented.

Well....................gotta get going, the Sun's goin' down, got things to do.

Pictures of 'shroom's are on the top of page 18. though i am not sure where this other photo K is talking about is... *thinks it got eaten by the computer post monsters*

K why thanks for saying you liked what i was trying to do hehe so did i until it didnt like me. not hard to add a little text though. Will start searching my books for your mysterious super speed growth 'shrooms and will get back to you. i'm pretty sure i've seen a pix of them before while flipping through looking for edible varietys (yum yum i love mushrooms) Only thing with mushrooms though is that you should always be 100% sure of what your looking at before even touching it because some carry toxins that can be absorbed through your skin and effect you not just intruducing toxins through digestion of said 'shroom

Just Dahlia agrees: I saw that, he had a new pic, I thought;)

I thinks your right. Your welcome, Yes, I've seen them before to, and your "Dead Right" 'bout that last comment!

Looks like it worked this time. I checked the verbena tried rubbin the "mass" away, but didn't move, mite be "Sun scald"
You can see the yellow circles better in the V pix, barely in the 'shrooms. Again 'shroom pix 72minutes apart.
