It's 68.

I have no idea how the 2 works in there, but 8+4=12, 12+8 =20, 20+16 =36, 36+32 = 68 (yeah, yeah....my adding apparently sucks, which is why 58 came up first)

It's a progression of the inchworm song--2+2 are 4, 4 and 4 are 8, 8 and 8 are 16, 16 and 16 are 32---plus the previous number.

The answer to #2 is 68. it's a progression of doubles, added to the number before it.

THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!!! THANK YOU!!!! To both of you!!
I sent that response (asking for the correct answer) before reading your answers. I was using my blackberry and its not very reliable and now im on my PC so I can actually read your answers and I see the effort that went into answering my questions, and because its for a job (its to test your logic and apparently patience) I was desperate!! I copied the test on paper 100 questions by hand and then told the front desk girl that I had a emergency and unfortunately only had time to fill out the application and I would come back for the test so i took it home and these were the only questions i couldn't get. So seriously thank you again so much!!

The answer to two is 68.

Each time you look at the total and add up the total minus 4.
E;g. 8 minus 4 is 4 so 8+4=12
12 minus 4 is 8 so 12+8 = 20
20 minus 4 is 16 so 20+16=36
36 minus 4= 32 so 36+32=68

You have to look at the two parts of each sum: if you take the heighest minus the lowest always means 4
8(=6+2) so 6-2=4
12 (=8+4) so 8-4=4
20(=12+8) so 12-8=4
36(=20+16) so 20-16=4
68(=36+32) so 36-32=4

I'm just wondering how you get from 2 to 8
