Game quits after title movie

The Interplay Star Trek: Starfleet Command: Gold Edition game gets through the title movie and then goes to my desktop, after a second I get a black screen that says "loading," then it goes straight to my active desktop. Before I was running Win2000 Professional and it wouldn't even start the title movie, it would say ddraw init failed. I've now got WinME, DirectX9.0b, Cirrus Logic 5446 Compatible Graphics Adapter PCI128, Creative Labs CT 4740 sound card, Lite-on 16x DVD/CD ROM drive, and 64KB SDRAM. Can anyone help me get this game to play??????????
