They arm your animimal control?
In GA and TN where I have lived, the animal control are not armed, not post certified and have little requirements except be willing to work for welfare wages.
So I guess the answer is yes, depending on where you work.
Well I know one time, I got a call from the county, ( when I worked as animal control for a small city. Well it was about 1/2 outside city limit but the chief of police ok'ed me going out, it was a rabid dog call,
Yep got there, dog falling down, getting up, and foaming at the mouth,
Well the county mounties wanted to use it for target practice, but we were on school property and they were afraid of the news on using their guns at school. So I used my dart gun to put it to sleep, but missed my dozage guess ( got to guess at weight of dog, and so on)
Well killed it dead, turned out it was having a seizure not rabies well to say the least I wish I had let the cops shoot it from all the trouble I had.
"My" local animal control guy has a rather unique uniform. I swear he designed/put it together himself. My husband always said he looks like a cross between a Royal Canadian Mountie, the NYS Police and Smoky the Bear. The first time my husband ever saw him he (my husband) was rather speechless and spellbound - I guess I'm used to him (the animal control person and you'd BETTER not call him the dog warden).
Plus, of course, the knee high black boots and CUFFS and gun and badge pinned to his chest - and I'm not joking. He must get up when it's still dark in order to be in uniform, at his desk, at 9AM. I swear he has a whip in the truck.
His pants are just this side of riding britches.
Yes, he's a sight to behold. I swear my dogs are afraid of him, as am I. I make sure my dogs are licensed and never, ever cross this guy.
