My husband and I just moved to our new house. The previous owner of the house has a some outdoor furnitures left so we decided to keep them since they still look good. But one round wooden table which they said they bought from an online store has a big stain on it. The stain is bit big and it looks like a wine stain (but not too sure). I'd like to know if wood stains can still be removed? Does varnishing helps?

Try sanding the stain out. Or try bleach but bleach the whole thing evenly.

You can't "varnish" out a stain If the stain penetrated the sealer and got to the wood stain its sanding time. I don't know how much work you want to do but here's is a good way to redo.
Sand whole top to take sheen of old finish off. And you will see if the stain is just in the sealer. If it goes away now dust free it (tack rags) and use a ext spar urethane at what gloss you want. If stain doesn't quite go away sand down to it disappeared. If this disappears to bare wood 1 of 2 things sand down the whole top or get a close stain to match and use a old sock not a brush and re stain. The sock helps to control the darkness of how much stain will soak up and help match the other stain. If its old a Maybe redo the whole top because the sealer is shot; I use Spar urethane it won't water spot so easily. I use that on boats and think of that water.
