Is old Japanese kimono fabric suitable for upholstering a wing chair?

I've fallen in love with these old japanese kimono silk fabrics and would love to use them to upholster this wing chair i've got. It would be a bit patch work but that's the kind of design I'd like if I thought the fabric was up to it. Anyone know?
