| | | Why were two threads locked? My question is why when I made two comments on this site about the lack of tolerance of the posters, were both threads locked?
both of my comments were relevant to the OP, and for the record the person who replied before the thread was closed couldn't even spell the word let alone understand the meaning. He managed to get it wrong twice.
so my supplementary question: why do you allow people who have no idea what they are talking about to post unmoderated answers on this site.
for the record I majored in Psychology and have been a formally recognised Councilor in the military.

Pay to call Curlyben for advice ($1/min) | Threads are closed for any number of reasons, but normally in response to received inappropriate post reports.
On reviewing your own posts I believe your own comments are most likely the reason for these recent closures.
Referring to other members as "small minded fools" is disparaging and in breach of the sites TOS which you agreed to upon joining.
Also to answer your own question: Quote: |

| Considering the size of the membership here we CANNOT review every single post that is made on the site.
That is completely impracticable and smacks of overt censorship.
I would not be a member of any site that moderated every single post and I have yet to find one.

| The disparaging of other posters here. It's a free and open forum, anyone can ppost anywhere. If we disagree we add the answer we consider to be correct without insulting the other posters. | |

I would not be a member of any site that moderated every single post and I have yet to find one. | So if I understand your post, my posts were moderated because they were disparaging to others. You might note that i did not single out any individual poster, and if you bothered to to read some of the other replies and then place my comment in context you would see that a number of disparaging remarks were made by others that were directly attributable to the OP.
I also note that you claim that you do not support a site that moderates and reviews posts, yet you support the fact that someone reviewed mine and closed the thread.
Freedom of speech - if you say what I agree with????

| Do you actually understand what is entailed when a forum post is moderated, as from your comments here you clearly don't.
ANY member can report any post as inappropriate with a valid reason.
These reports are then reviewed and a decision is taken as to the veracity or otherwise and the action to be taken.
Now these TWO threads where closed by ME as they had addressed the OP and where simply veering off topic.
AMHD is a Q&A site after all. Quote: |

| Now you really don't want to start with this, as AMHD is a PRIVATE site and Freedom of Speech refers to what GOVERNMENTS can and cannot do.. | |

I am well aware of moderation of a site, and I agree to some extent that the thread had moved off topic. On the other hand i would suggest that it moved far off topic far earlier, and should have been moderated when some people made judgmental posts that were not helpful to the wellbeing of the OP. My post simply placed some balance to these comments.
Freedom of speech isn't limited to governments (why on earth do you tihnk that?). It is a societal right. It exists on the internet just as it exists on the high street.
What is very clear on this site is that anyone who asks a question should be prepared for answers to come from a very narrow spectrum of society, who will freely and openly judge you in public.

Picking holes in an ADMINISTRATORS spolling mistakes really isn't conducive to a good working relationship. Quote: |

| As previously mention posts are NOT reviewed on posting, but once we receive reports action is taken. Quote: |

| Actualy Freedom of Speech IS limited to the actions a Government can take. This is embodied in Statute Law and is recognized in international and regional human rights law.
What you are confused with is Freedom of Expression. That being said as AMHD is a private site you have agreed to abide by the TOS upon becoming a member. Quote:

Where there is perceived anonymity people are more open about very personal issues. In situations like this, without added background information, advice can only be given on what is actually posted.

| International, national and regional standards recognise that freedom of speech, as one form of freedom of expression, applies to any medium, including the Internet. I cite Andrew Puddephatt, Freedom of Expression, The essentials of Human Rights, Hodder Arnold, 2005, pg.128
The point relating to the use of correct English language was somewhat tongue in cheek, having said that, it is somewhat incongruous that someone who moderates an English text site seems unable to fully understand the use of the language. It rather mirrors the case of the poster who claimed my comments about intolerance were incorrect, when in fact he twice failed to even spell the word correctly. It hardly inspires confidence.
It does, after all, say on the banner "Live answers from real experts". One would wonder how "expert" some of the posters really are.
Finally, on the subject of balanced response, perhaps it might be better not to close a thread when a poster makes a comment which disagrees with the majority of others.
