A FAQs feature

Ok, I'm getting pretty tired of answering the same old questions OVER and OVER. I mean how many different ways can you say that relinquishing parental rights doesn't get you out of child support!

So the thought occured to some of us that maybe we can have a FAQ feature similar to what Answerway has. Each expert could build a collection of FAQs and then choose from that list (or a global list) that would add a link to the reply. An alternative might be to designate a thread as a FAQ so it could be selected from a list. I would love to be able to respond to a homework question with a link to Ben's guideline post. Or point out my Comment features guideline to someone who has misused the feature.

I agree, it is a little bit too much like hard work to go get the link for the sticky

Some boards do have a FAQ section, have a look at the DOGS Board.

I do like the idea of a complete FAQ board.

Its not so much the work, but think how many more people we could help if we could to it faster.

I think you mean the sitckies at the top of the forum. Those are good, but it doesn't help that much unless we can link to it.

You can link to them, quite simple really.
I know Labman does, as do I.

What do you think of a whole FAQ board ?

What I'm really looking for is what Answerway has. A way to select from a list of FAQs that would then add a link to the response, either within the text or a separate link. So I wouldn't have to spend the time (and effort), to open a new window, find the FAQ and paste in the link.

Well the stickys do have an index at the begining of them, but I see your point.

Yep askers are even lazier than we are Otherwise half the questions wouldn't be asked, they would just read previous answers.

So, if we don't provide them a link to where the info can be found they won't go there.

Scott, you've hit the nail on the head for what I've tried to generate some interest in here:
http://www.askmehelpdesk.com/experts...tml#post225634 (only Experts can see the link).

Of course it does not address boards where there's not an expert - so until we have an expert on every board I'm happy to do FAQs where needed.

Anyone who notices a question has been asked umpteen times: PM me
1. The board
2. The question, and
3. The answer

And I'll get it up.

Thanks for the kind comments. In my first few days on www.Xpertsite.com 7 years ago, I quickly got tired of retyping instructions on housebreaking a puppy. I also realized I was leaving out this detail this time and that detail the next. So I put together one good one and saved it. You can find a highly tweaked version of it at http://www.askmehelpdesk.com/dogs/in...tml#post251809 I continue keeping a hoard of dog advice including links to my stickies. In some cases, I pull out old stuff and edit it to be more relevant to a particular question. There is no way I could be approaching a mile of posts here if I had to write each one, cover other sites, and have a life too
