an apple

and P&J sandwiches

Really, anything these days. You can even bring meat along, just make sure you bring some ice to keep it cool.

The question is, what do you want to eat on this picnic?

HI,
First thing about picnics; buy yourself a cooler, one large enough to put sandwiches in, with drinks, as suggested by your first answer.
I wouldn't trust any meat sandwiches to stay "good" for more than a couple of hours without being on ice.
Of course, you could always take some kind of canned foods, open them while you are there; like pork n beans, potato chips, canned spam, make sandwiches with them there; be sure to take a loaf of bread.
Just some thoughts. Have fun.
