| Hi Dawn...and welcome to the site. I am not going to recommend any ways to achieve weight loss or gain muscle because I am sure that there are people here with far more expertise in that area. I will say though, that your fat does not "turn into" muscle. You lose fat when you excercise through cardio and strength training and then your muscles build up. When you strength train you are creating small tears in your the cells that make up your muscles. When these cells repair themselves they increase in size, thereby increasing your strength.
