    Firefox won't open pdf.
    When I click on a pdf link online using FireFox, I get the error message below.

    When I click on a pdf link in IE, the pdf opens fine.

    Am I supposed to do something in Firefox or Adobe to fix the problem. I can't even tell what they're trying to tell me to do!

    Sounds like Firefox needs to have the reader registered. It should be picking up the association from Windows, but doesn't appear to be doing so.

    Scott; yes, not recognizing the extension.

    Need; I've got no association for pdf at all. It's not even on the list. How do I add it and assign it?

    You can add a PDF association manually, or just try reinstalling the Reader.

    Well, that link led me to a FF extension that did not work for me. I still get the same message.

    What bugs me is: What the heck is giving that message? Is it FF or is it Acrobat (I use 6.0 Pro)? I don't find "associations", as the message indicates, in FF - and in Acrobat's preferences I don't find anything about FF.

    I'll try the uninstall/reinstall option - but I'm thinking to do so for FF is more appropriate than doing so for Acrobat. What do you think?

    Have you updated your Acrobat recently ?
    I had a similar issue when I updated Acrobat Pro and found I had to reinstall the reader for it to redo the file assocs.

    Give it a go.

    Is FF your default browser? If so then go to your Adobe Acrobat Reader, click on Edit-->Preferences-->Internet. Then check the box for "Display PDF in Browser".

    There you go you need to install Acrobat Reader and this will fix your issue.
    FF has problems using Acrobat Pro as it's default reader.

    Well if we're talking PDF readers then I suggest the fast and lightweight Foxit Reader. I use it at work and at home.

    Either that or install the 7.0 Reader.
