I live in the state of Mo., I have a garnishment/hold on my checking account. I am trying to figure out if they can take my child support that is directly deposited into my account. Would anyone know how true that is?
I would think that child support would be exempt from garnishment. Notify your bank that you're having child support direct deposited into your account.
I believe any monies going into your acct will be subject to garnishment.
You could have your child support be re-directed. Also, you could open
a new acct and it would be unlikely the garnishment would catch up with
the new acct. As an IRS employee, usually child support and soc security
was exempt from garnishment.
