Introductions Sub forum

I had a thought regarding this forum. Is it possible to set it up to prevent replies? I think the idea of a place for new members to come and introduce themselves and also see intros from other members is a good idea.

But what it engenders is people just posting welcomes back and I'm not sure that is a good idea as it just adds the threads as new.

I, too, think it a positive thing to see that newbies are greeted.

I don't like to pile on, but do like to check Introductions for 0 replies so that I can greet the person if no one else has.

I think the Intros Board is an excellent idea, but I do wish people would ONLY post a hello rather than asking their question.

After all if they have found the intros board they have some idea about navigating the site !!

RickJ : Yes, would be a big help!

Then maybe they could get an automated response direct to their e-mail or private mail that explains the purpose of the Intro board and welcomes them. This takes care of the issue of those who post a question either along with the intro or as their intro. And still gets them a response. Or maybe restrict replies only to Mods.

It just seems to me that it offers an opportunity for "piling on" by allowing such greetings.

P.S. to the other comment. I suspect if I said black I would get white in response automatically

Rick,

I just noticed your announcment in the Intros forum. Good Job! But if you could make it more prominent that might help. Also, if I might make a suggestion about the text behind the link:

This forum is to Introduce Yourself to the rest of the membership. If you have a question or need help with something, please post it to the appropriate Forum so that it can be seen and answered by members with expertise and experience in that area.

Please feel free to tell us about yourself here. Remember you can fidn other members with similar interests in the respective Forums.

Thanks!

I always feel I should say welcome to the new people, I did not do the introduction because every one already knows me and my piggies

Thanks! Much better than I had it. I changed the text and title of it.

More prominent? Are you referring to more than the text? I can't change the look or placement of the Announcement...

I was thinking if you could bold the text or something like that, but if you can't...
