I'm not siding with anyone, but I really don't think this rating system is very good at all. As labman said, all its going to do is lead to arguements because of comments left for others. I really don't think this is a good idea. If people are around here on this site enough, they know who knows what their talking about and who doesn't without this rating system saying it.
to Wsartv..., stick around long enough, the rating system is OK, just needs to be used fairly,and not as a battle-field, as some do. I've gotten to the point that when I have something to say to correct someone, I do it in the open, and not hide behind ratings or 'general' meaningless words. You don't have to feel in the middle or take sides, that's not the point of this forum. Please continue with your good advice and expertise to benifit others, as should be , and most of us will do the same. There are some, however who seek out posts just to put them down, so they can pull themselves up by it, like an addiction.
As WZAR explained the scale is now text. I just went ahead and gave you an ''I approve''. See if you get anything. I am not seeing some of this stuff either using Konqueror. It may be some Microsoft centric junk designed to enhance their monopoly. What I really don't see is how this rating rating crap is going to do any good. It is just going to be like the original AskMe and Point Ask, where the trolls have inflated ratings and all but the thickest skinned people giving good answers leave along with most of the users. This site had been one of the best on the net.
I have some text now saying "lastest reputation received" and then at the other side "22 points total". So... that's interesting.
I don't really have many comments on the system in general, although personallly if I approve or disapprove of a post I won't think to rate it, I'll just either ignore it or pay attention to it. I imagine most people are similar However, at present I would say it isn't really intuitive enough - like it is not clear what the rep power is or means and why it would say latest reputation received and 22 points total. What was my latest repuation received? What is the total a total of? Do these two things really make sense together? (these are not necessarily questions I want answered, just commenting on the fact that the answers don't really clearly express themselves)
Oh wait, I think I understand now! Now I get what that is under the box saying latest reputation received - stuff I've got ratings for. Maybe I am an idiot
