The Psychics and Fortune Tellers Board

A member has suggested that the board be changed to Psychics and Mediums, as "fortune tellers" is "archaic". Are Mediums and Psychics not the same thing? Other opinions?

Shut the whole board down. Giving people false hope is sad. Plus it's often a vehicle for scammers to get people to their pay site.

Psychics and mediums are not the same, particularly to people in the field, but the question should be "Are mediums the same as fortune tellers?". In any case there are many classifications and sub classifications. What name would capture most of these classifications, and convey that to our visitors and members.

I do not believe we should close the topic. What vision do we have for this website? I see it as a place where anyone can ask and answer questions in any topic. (Kind of like the Cornell's motto: I would found an institution where any person can find instruction in any study. :-) )

I think there are plenty of sites for mediums and psyhics - people can go there and ask their questions. One sees questions posted here from people asking for help and it is an unknown quality for an answer. I could post an answer to some of the questions and be just as right, or wrong, as someone who claims to be a psyhic. I think it is a field wide open for pigeons to be plucked.

But it is also an open forum here and we say all are welcome. One has to use prudence when believing or not believing an answer. Changing the board name would not hurt.

I agree with Admin.AMHD is just that.Whilst I do not believe in "mediums" or "Fortune Cookies",it would be wrong to say "not allowed to post"

Just my opinion anyway.

Rick, thank you for allowing us input ability. My personal opinion is that it should just be labeled "Psychics." One person's idea of a Medium might very well be another's idea of a Fortune-Teller. They both (along with Soothsayer) pretty much fall under the Psychic category and that title shouldn't create an issue for anyone. I also think we should create a disclaimer sticky at the top of that board.
