The Psychics and Fortune Tellers Board

A member has suggested that the board be changed to Psychics and Mediums, as "fortune tellers" is "archaic". Are Mediums and Psychics not the same thing? Other opinions?

Actually we need a sticky for the whole site warning there is no way admin can assure good answers. Suggest the only protection from bad advice is giving others a chance to post. I hate to think of the number of times I see the OP approving a bad answer

I'm new to this site and the thing that attracted me to it was that any question could be asked. Medical questions are asked and answered, but not necessarily by doctors. Relationship questions are asked and answered, but not necessarily by counselors. The psychic, medium, tarot, rune, horoscope, ect...fields are popular and have a large following, for whatever reason. I'd like to keep this site as one which allows for all inquiries.

Also, as for psychics and mediums being the same, as I understand it, psychics have a variety of ways to "see" and/or "feel" information while mediums are conduits between this life and the after life. I feel there are some credible practioners in these fields as well as many scammers. But isn't that true of any profession?

That is certainly a good name, Rick. However, since people appear to be asking psychics questions that may be of a medical, legal, financial or other nature, etc. it is important to now also place a LEGAL DISCLAIMER on the Psychic board so that people will know that they are not actually getting professional (medical, legal, financial, etc.) advice. Literally all other boards that have psychics have a disclaimer that is posted in a prominent place for all to read. So glad to see the "fortune tellers" name gone.

Rick, I don't really know of any right off-hand but if I were looking for some I would simply Google the words "Psychic forum" and I'm sure they would pop up one right after the other. Sorry, but I just don't use them that often to know or recommend any "big" psychic forums.

Hi Rick, The reason others and I have suggested having a Legal Disclaimer is because I remember that sometime back I had Googled the words "psychic", and "readings", etc. and remember that most all boards I looked at during that time had some kind of disclaimers on them as it pertained to doing readings, etc. But since that has been awhile back and I don't visit the sites anymore, it would be near impossible to remember off the top of my head the urls to them.

Again, a good Google search may get you just the information you are looking for!

I just thought that you're saying "all other boards that have psychics have a disclaimer" meant that you knew of some.

I do agree we need one. We'll work on that.

I think having the board is good cause people can get a more concrete down to earth answers about what is scam and so forth as far as the spiritual stuff (and even what might be a logic answer) rather than them going to a real scam pay site and finding out the hard way.

Basically psychics tell the future and most are scams
mediums deal with communicating with the dead AND have some psychic abilities.
They seem more for real than psychics.
Fortune tellers is rather archaic. I would change it to psychics and mediums and use a disclaimer
Most people that reply on there do tell people basically to follow their heart and not seek strangers advise.

Most psychic's do have a disclaimer that say 'for entertainment purposes only'
which always makes me laugh since their commercials say they are 100% for real!--But it is for legal purposes
