| | | The Psychics and Fortune Tellers Board A member has suggested that the board be changed to Psychics and Mediums, as "fortune tellers" is "archaic". Are Mediums and Psychics not the same thing? Other opinions? | | | | | | |

| Although it would be nice if they did read it (we all know how few people actually read any of them) it will allow us complete legal comfort. Even though we have a disclaimer under the TOS section, a secondary one specifically tailored to that board is warranted IMHO. |

| Dear Rick/Administrator,
You are in the process of consideration in changing the name of this forum from "Psychics and fortune tellers" to possibly "Psychics and Mediums". My personal feelings in this regard as a spiritual worker who also has related gifts is that the title "Fortune Teller" is indeed archaic in nature. Today, people who work in the field are known preferably as "Spiritual Counselors" or Psychics. One thing to be aware of is that some states may have laws regarding "fortune tellers". There are numerous websites on the Internet that allude to this and if it is permissible to give the urls in this forum I would be glad to provide them. Also, as suggested by another member, there should be a Disclaimer on top of such a forum to be in compliance with any existing laws, etc.
My belief is that people who work in this field have God-given gifts and use them to help others. People who do not currently work in this field, are skeptical, or have never worked before may not be cognizant of this and may thus opine in the negative. But one must remember that basically everyone is psychic but many have not bothered to tap into their psychic potential thus, when they are unable to give psychic information out as professionals do, they may develop a low opinion of psychics in order to vent out their frustration at not being able to do as well. Others will simply listen to the thoughts and opinions as offered by the psychics or spiritual counselors and having their own free will choice, may choose to consider what is being said or not. Another thing is that a "Medium" can also be a psychic but a psychic is not always a medium as they may not be capable of reaching, attuning to and interfacing with spirit as the medium does. Again, a psychic with a good heart will strive to help people and because there is The First Amendment, such people should be allowed to have an open forum for such discussions. Thank you. |

a) such people as you describe may indeed exist but there is no way to differentiate who is what on an anonymous internet discussion board such as this. I, or anyone else who feels the urge at the moment, can answer any question on that board, The OP will never know the difference.
b) in my 3 years of being here I have never witnessed anyone use such gifts succesfully help anyone else on this board. |

Actually, there is a way to differentiate, NeedKarma, you would need to read and listen to the quality of the answer being given. The professional psychic who cares will answer with a high degree of quality, knowledge and pride in their work just like a doctor would exhibit knowledge and pride in their work by the way they would answer. It would be quite easy to tell whether or not a respondent was just making statements for a laugh or offering quality advise for the person to consider.
b) in my 3 years of being here I have never witnessed anyone use such gifts succesfully help anyone else on this board. | I am sorry to hear that, NeedKarma. It may be that some people have not worked hard enough to create the kind of professional impression they should be exhibiting. Many times it is their fault for simply assuming that others would know of their talents but don't go the extra mile to show the quality of their work. It is time for those professionals to wake up and smell the coffee and participate in this forum. As for myself, I answer questions mainly pertaining to the Afterlife after having studied/researched many aspects of it for quite a period of time.
Again, I hope that those psychics reading your comments will come forward and keep the standards of the profession high. And everyone must remember that asking a question that you know is bogus will get a bogus answer in return due to reciprocal energy that comes around full circle. So, when one is truly serious about inquiring about a subject with a good psychic, they should assure that their question is not meant to "test" the psychic but rather to obtain intuitive information that comes from the related energy of the question. Thanks for your response and have a WONDERFUL day! |

| How about this: SkyGem, if you contribute significantly to that board we'll change it's name?

Is "fortune tellers" antiquated as far as use goes?
If so, what is a better word or term to use?
What is the best title for that board?
Skygem, in a phrase, what would you propose naming the board? |

| After reading the posts I felt that a decision needed to be made. I agree that possibly Psychics may be a good title. I also agree that a disclaimer would be wise.
Sorry I didn't have an original idea, just in agreement and thought it should be moved forward. |

| Skygem stated in his/her original response that it should be named: Psychics and Mediums. |

| I saw that, preceed by "possibly"...so thought maybe with the additional input, he might have another...or 2nd the motion for "Psychics & Mediums". |
