What do you think about uploading a photo of yourself for your profile, like I've done, instead of an avatar?

As far as forums go, generally only a small percentage of people put pics of themselves with their Profile.

Might I suggest this, to add a bit more to the "feeling of community":

Change "Ask Me Help Desk Management" to "Ask Me Help Desk Community" and add a "Introduce Yourself and Post Your Picture" board.

And to take it one step further, a cool feature of some boards is a
Member Map. ...but I know, that's an addition that takes some time and knowledge to set up...

DJ 'H' : Very good suggestion, it would be much more encouraging.

Hi,
I agree with rickj about the photo. It's rare to see personal photos on forum sites.

I do have a photo of myself as my avatar. That's me at my weekly archery lesson...

I don't mind putting a picture of myself up here but I prefer avatars - it can be more of an insight into the person's personality. For example, mine says: Likes Zelda, plays to many games, needs to get out more - Well that's spot on for me

Oh my Rick, have you considered an Alpha Hydroxy Peel to diminish those fine lines???? LOL

I was just thinking that pic has many possibilities.
Marlboro could use it as their poster child: "Who says smoking shortens your life?"

OR

Stop Smoking Campaigns could use it: " Smoking is not healthy, she's actually 32"

...anyways, I agree most people hardly ever put their pics in profiles. An introduction section is a good idea for members to post their pics .

Actually that's not a bad idea - get a decent pic of oneself and throw a Photoshop filter to it ... hmmmm... that would be better than old Ralphie Wiggum.
