Points.

I don't understand what drives the points. I see one thing: Giving feedback lowers my points significantly. I gave feedback on 6-7 posts this morning and my points went down by 20.

Is that the way it's meant to be?

I guess the real question is "what is a point?"

Aah, yes. That would make sense - as clearly a person's reputation can change over time.

Got it.

...but of course, I see that this cannot be the complete answer, as if we imagine that someone, last 25 entries were "Approve" and someone added an Approve rate, then the score would not change.

...but again, I see the value of not showing the exact "definition"...

It was a coincidence that you noticed your points just as they were being recalculated. I think I had boosted them manually by 20 points. When they were recalculated they dropped back down.

All ratings are accumulated, not just the last 25.

Curious.

Today someone rated one of my posts and I got the gray box next to it and thus no adjustment to my points.

With users now having to chose "Approve" or "Disapprove", how is this possible?

I have no ideas, you're closer to management.. But I've been rated twice, since the change and they were also grey, and the rating boxes with response/comment are not on the posts that were rated, so someone has to go back to the 'drawingboard'.

I believe that the Grey boxes are ratings from users with ZERO rep power, hence no added rep.

Comments on this post
RickJ : Good eye Curlyben!
admin : Curlyben is correct. He's been reading http://www.askmehelpdesk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13789.
labman : I think Admin posted it a week or better ago. It definitely is in the FAQ. Before that, I had questioned why I had so many gray squares with positive comments.
fredg : I second the "good eye", I remembered it after you posted this, but have "sometimers disease", sometimes I remember, sometimes I don't.

Gray boxes

Hi,
As Curlyben stated, gray boxes are ratings from someone whose Rep Power is 0.
Thanks, Admin, for clarifying that when viewed ratings are dropped off from My Profile, the ratings are still cumulative, and not changed just to relect the last 25.
