I need help with picking a dress.

I am a sophomore and I am going to my boyfriends schools semi-formal winter carnival dance. I don't want to be to dressed up since I don't know many of the people there. I am 5' 4", brownish hair, brown eyes, freckles, and kind of tan but not really. And I like darker colors. I also am not looking to spend much on this because I will only wear it once. Please make suggestions!!! Thank you so much!!

P.S. It has to be short and must have straps...

DaniU, I think darker colors will look flattering on you. I've posted a website below that has some really cute short semi-formal dresses that's affordable. You may also want to look through magazines for the trends in semi-formal dresses. Or, you can visit your local stores and try on different dress styles to decide which style will look good on you.

I think you would look good in a dark dress. Maybe try borrowing one from your friends/family, or buy one from a charity shop. It is cheap and for a good cause. You can find some real bargains!

Good luck.
