What is considered Child Abandonment in Florida
My son and I and his girlfriend lived in Ohio. We moved to Florida a year ago and my grandson was born here in Florida. My son has decided to move back to Ohio and she wants to stay here in Florida. They never married, however, he is named the father on the birth cert. They are still living together at this time until his plan to move in Feb. however, she said that if he moved to Ohio, that she will get him on abandonment. He wants joint custody and has offered to pay child support, although there is no legal papers. My question is if he moves to Ohio, does he have to have legal papers stating that he is not abandoning his son just because financially it is in his best interest to move back to Ohio.
    Thank You

She can try and file anything she wants, This may be for divorce reasons, to file for divorce and help her get a better divorce settlement, but if he is willing to visit the children and does, and if he pays the court ordered child support, it would not be abandoment, that normally takes many months, and normally many years of no contract to be considered.

He does need a good divorce attorney in Florida and should get divorced before he leaves if he wants a divorce.
