Hi my name is Danielle. I have a husband named Robert and a a toddler at home. My husband has a child from a previous relationship and has paid child support for the child his whole life. he has also been involved in the child's life, at least as much as she woul let him. i do not know how to say this ina nice way, but she is a girl of questionable morality, and basically uses her son as a paycheck. She lives in a dump and does not get the child haircuts,dentist, or decent clean clothes. The child would obviously benefit by living with us.
last time we went to court the lawyer said that my husband lived too far away to get joint parentage. My husband has now been offered a job where we would be living like one street over from where the child lives already. I really want to know if it would be able to get at least joint physical custody and how this would effect child support payments. She is basically living with her husband that will not work and me and my husband are supporting her whole amily even her kid from someone else. what should we do?

Once you have moved - contact an attorney. If the only reason given the first time was that you lived to far away - then you should have no problem.

The child support - that really is a question for the attorney.

Tell the lawyer that your reason for moving was to get the ball rolling. If your attorney is anything like my first attorney and has more excuses as to why he can not bring it into court... Dump him. I did! I found a great lawyer, and now my daughters time is split equally between her mother and I.

Heck, I would have contacted children's service and tried to get the child away from the mom entirely.

But, now you have a problem here. Even living so close, what do you want? You want alternate weeks? This would be doable since the child can go to the same school.

The best bet is to consult an attorney.
