First off a sperm donor shouldn't be paying support because legally speaking (this is a legal board after all) a sperm donor goes to a sperm bank to make their deposit and what happens after that is not up to them. What I believe you are referencing the biological father. If that is the case then marry your boyfriend (or whatever it takes to meet your states criteria to make him eligeble to adopt) and hire a lawyer to draw up the papers simple as that. On the other hand if you are just one of the very rare and maybe lucky one that went to the sperm bank and the donor found out you used his sperm and decided to send you payments then there really isn't anything you need to to because it isn't his child legally.

And you have to wonder if this flippant attitude carries over onto the child - sad situation, indeed. Another case where the male was good enough to have unprotected sex with but then turned into a "sperm donor."

As you can see, many people object to referring to the father of your child as a "sperm donor" unless you had artificial insemination from sperm deposited in a sperm bank. Of course, in that case, you wouldn't be getting child support. You, apparently exercised poor judgment in having sex with this person.. Maybe he wasn't ready or willing to have a child. But that is no reason to refer to him so derogatorily.
Now that being said, the answer to your question is to consult a Family Law Attorney in your area. Such a lawyer will be able to tell you what requirements are necessary for the person you are "with" to adopt the child. Generally there is a requirement that you be married for a period of time.
Once you meet the requirements, you get the attorney to draw up the adoption petition to submit to court. The petition will include a relinquish of rights statement from the bio father.
With his agreement the judge should just grant the petition without problem.
