Signing over parental rights when cps is involved.
I am fighting with cps, have been for over a year now about getting my son home. Now they are trying to put him and my now 4 month old daughter up for adoption, I live in kitsap county of Washington state. The best thing right now for my children is my mother who has had my children in relative placement for over 9 months with my son and for the last 2 months of my daughters life so far. The first month of life for my daughter after they took her from me in the hospital I wasn't able to see her, I know this to be illegal in this state. But my point is I am now to the point where I am so far down in my mental problems that I am no longer a fit mother for them, but I know that my mother is, my kids are bonded to/with her and I am trying to find out how to do this for them. If anyone has any advice or knows anything that could possibly help me, it would be very appreciated.

You don't need to sign over rights. You mom should file for temporary guardianship of the children until such time as you can show you can care for them.

You don't give us any reason why your children were taken away nor an I asking. But it has to be something significant for the state to take the action they did.

Me and my sons father had just separated it had been a very abusive relationship I was 19 at the time.I wasn't making the right decisions but was still trying to do right by my son. My son had a allergic reaction to the medicene the doctor prescribed, I did not give him any more of that medication, but I went out to the bowling ally with my son and a woman noticed the reaction and called the cops. Told them I was burning my then 8 month old son, and then when they got there she changed her story to I had abandoned my son when I told the cops what the marks were and even showed them the meds I had given him but stopped after he got the reaction. Cps said that it was possible that neglect was takeing place, not that there was or any proof of it. I am currently on my 4th case worker and from when she took over my case she has done nothing but have me in court repeatedly, trying to establish that I am unfit that my mother is unfit, I am to the point where I know my kids deserve better than what I can possibly give them when I get them back. That is why I asked... it is helpful I just now get to go find out how we can do that. Thank you

While I have heard plenty of CPS horror stories on both ends, they are the exception not the rule. So I have to wonder at what their side of the story is.

But that's neither here nor there. I still recommend that you mother apply for temp guardianship until you have cleared your legal issues.

Being from WA state myself, and having family members with similar problems through CPS, I know your best course of action at this point is to get an attorney, and contact your district state Representative.
Most cases of CPS, they want to keep the kids with family, and so if this is not what is going on in your case, definitely consult an attorney, for your mother's help if you are feeling unable to take them yourself.
CPS will try and make you believe that they are "God", and can override courts, but this is false information. I'm unsure of the websites, but the WA state government website has names, e-mail addresses, and other info on your district rep, and also the Family Law Ombudsman. Contact those people, even the governor if you have to, or feel compelled to, but do it quickly. In WA state after CPS has had your children, i.e. in foster care under CPS, for 6+ months, it becomes much more difficult for the parents to accomplish anything.
However this does not mean that it's impossible. Never give up hope. Good luck!
