Served divorce papers

After acquiring his U.S.Citizenship my husband is divorcing me. What happens if I don't respond to being served divorce papers ? There is no community property to be divided as he insisted on everything being kept separate. I have separate property including my home of 25 yrs. which is held in another name as a widow, sole and separate property. He never paid a mortgage payment. His papers state that " there are no such assets and debts subject to disposition by the court". So can I just ignore the served papers and let him get the divorce by default? Which is ok with me.

Why would you do that? It sounds to me like this was a marriage of convenience to get citizenship. He doesn't seem to want anything from you but a signature. So why wouldn't you give it to him? I would take the divorce papers to your attorney, have him look them over and if there are no hidden gotchas, sign them and send them back.

I agree, he married me for a green card, permanent residency and citizenship but I have no proof except that he was a verbally abusive raging maniac. We were married 4 yrs.9 months.
