My exgirlfriend is pregnant with my child, due in July. She is an extremely poor mother to 3 animals, will not find a job other than working at night in a bar, has no money, very lazy and in my opinion will not make a suitable mother. My concern is for my child and i am scared what will happen without my full involvment. She is going on welfare and financial assistance to get an apartment. I am successful in medical sales, have a stable home environment and have no history of dui's or any crimianl issues. She did not want me involved with this child, but now is asking for money when the child is born. I am worried that not only the money I will provide will not be used totally on the child but also i am worried just about my child's welfare with this woman. What can I do? I am seriuosly considering trying to get full custody. This is just a nutshell with much other issues from this woman!

Not only should you seriously consider it you should file for full custody the moment the child is born. You should consult an attorney immediately to know what you have to file and when. The attorney will also advise whatyou need to do to document her unfitness.

You do have an uphill row, since the courts trditional decide the mother is the better custodian, but that's changing.

Scootgem, thanks for your reply. I am currently looking into attorneys and hope and pray for the best. All I want is for my child is to have values and morality that I think he/she will not recieve from this woman.

I am pretty sure you saw the warning signs of laziness and an unfit parent before you got her pregnant.Why not use a condom?Anyway,mute point now.Not only will she be coming at you for money but you will be back and forth in court between fighting for custody and child support for the child.because if this person, who you say she is, then she is not willing to find an extra job to take care of the child but will but will be in court the first opportunity she gets fighting for c/s whether you contributes or not.Not only should you get a lawyer you should start gathering evidence of why you think she is not a fit mother and do not let the child live with the mom for more than a year before you start the process, b/c then it becomes pregressively harder for you to get custody.
