Paperwork to stop child support

My husband is currently paying child support for his 3 children. The oldest is turning 18 in July, and we live in Az. we were wondering if the payments automatically stop coming out of his check, or is there paperwork we have to fill out in order for the payments to stop?

Hello love:

There is a court order that his payroll department is following. It SHOULD have an ending date. I'd go look at it and see. If it DOESN'T, file a motion with the court that granted the garnishment order (but I'll bet it does).

Also please note in many court orders if that child is going to college then the support will have to continue

Each state is different. Call your local child support agency office to determine the scenerio for your husband and the child in question. If paperwork must be presented to a judge to stop the child support, then have those papers filed as soon as possible. Most child support is not automatically ended like a lot of people think it is.

Is the custodial parent recieving the money directly or is it going through a state agency ? If going through an agency then contact them and see about a review at that time. Dont be surprised if the amount never changes just that 1 child is dropped off the support rolls because they most likely will adjust the payments at that time. Good luck
