Did your wife work while you were married? Is she able to support herself financially now? If you are ordered to pay alimony to her it will be only a temporary arrangement with a time limit set. She will have to go for some kind of training for some kind of job skill to support herself. Ask your attorney about your specific situation as each divorce is different. The fact you were only married a short period of time versus say 20 or 25 years and the wife stayed home and raised the kids and never worked - then you have a much better chance of not paying alimony. You may, however, be ordered to pay temporary support to her while the divorce is going on.

You present your arguments against alimony in Court and the Judge decides.

If she works there's a possibility it won't be awarded.
