NJ Single Mother custody battle

Hi All,
I'm an NJ single mom and I have a one year old son. His father is not on the birth certificate, but he does sporadically/inconsistently sends child support. I lied to the social services people and said that he pays $100/mo so that I don't have to go to court to get child support ( I know how dumb that sounds) papers that he's not going to pay anyway.

My dilema is this. He's telling me that he will be suing me for full custody of my son. I have been looking for books or advice on how to prevent him from gaining custody. What can I do?

He hit me when I was pregnant and I left FL. I gave birth without him present so that's why the birth cert has my name only....but the baby has a hypehnated last name ... his and mine

Go to the State Child Development Agency file for Paternity and child support it is FREE and his wages will be garnished. DOCUMENT EVERYTHING!!!! He won't get full custody unless you are a total wreck
