My daughter is 10 and I need to know how to change her last name. Both last names of the parent and non custodial parents last names are on the Birth certificate (hyphenated) but she only uses one name, however schools she attends uses both with the non custodial parents last name first. She never uses that name. Any know what I should do?

First-you need agreement of the non-custodial parent to do it.If he resists / I suppose it is the father/ to it you have to go to Court and to prove that this changing of child's last name is in the best interest of your daughter.The second way is to have his parental rights terminated by court procedure.
