i need to make him pay for his kid

my ex lives in missouri where the origination of the support order is, i live in ohio, he owes me 34,000 dollars in past due child support, he was paying somewhat steady for a few months and now i have gotton nothing for the past 3. there is an income witholding in effect, problem is, he is an independant contractor for a major trucking co. so when he gets paid they do take the support off the top, but i found out that for the past 3 months he has been taking cash advances on his pay so he has not recieved a "check" to speak of because he is in debt to the company for 6000.00 so until he pays them back i get nothing. in the past i have hired 2 separate agencies to help me collect from him, one worked for about 2 yrs. till he was fired from his job, the other did nothing so i fired them after a year of no results. i have e-mailed and called his job telling them it is their legal responsibility to take this deduction off the top, but have had no luck, i have written letters and sent e-mails and phone calls to child support enforcement in M.O and would get one check, then nothing for months. they are not pursuing this enough and i don't know what to do, i need this money for my son. also, he has not filed taxes in yrs to avoid paying this debt and i know i am supposed to get his taxes. i told the judge about the taxes at our divorce hearing, he said he'd look into it but that was 12 yrs. ago.
cse keeps telling me that they will hold him in contempt and put him in jail, but they do nothing, anyone got any ideas on this, i want him to pay this, but i have exhausted every option i can think of. my now husband was put in jail for failure to pay his support on my step daughter and they took away his license, he is now paid off, but has a felony 4 on his record for it and was on probation for 2 yrs. but that was in ohio, why is'nt missouri as strict on this? it scared my husband so much, he paid his arrears of 10,000 dollars off and pays with income witholding now and stays current. i need someone to scare my ex like that. any ideas??? please.

been there done that, was told i was a greedy b***h , my next step is to take it to the prosecuting atty. but no gaurantee they'll do anything either. they have to have a hearing showing cause, is what i was told, before the case will ever see a judge.

If he is that far in arrears I don't see that telling him to shape up will do anything but further irritate him, don't see it will change the financial situation.

Do you have an Attorney involved in this? I know you've been doing a lot yourself but if the Court system isn't helping sometimes you have to get an aggressive Attorney involved, someone who works just for you.

unfortunatly i cannot afford an attorney at this time, both of the agengies i had, had one working on my behalf, the first agency was able to scare him enough to pay for 2 yrs. in a row, but the second had no luck at all. i wish SHARDAE was right, i wish words would do the trick but it won't.

Bummer! I don't know what to say. A dead beat Dad. I don't understand why the same court that ordered him to pay would have to have a hearing to determine if you had a case against him for not paying. You should not have to pay a lawyer. The D.A. should follow this through.

The D.A works for the people. That is you. I would be their biggest pain in the neck until something was done. Make them earn their pay.
