My daughters father is always in and out of jail she has never met him or knows about him. He tried contacting us about year ago when he got out of jail, but by the time I found out he was back in. I don't want my daughter to have to deal with that all her life I have since remarried and she belives her step-dad is her real dad. he would like to adopt her,but we are afraid he will not give up his parental rights and start asking for visitation. Even though he has never payed one cent in child support. My question is, how hard will it be to have his parental rights taken away?

If you read other similar threads you will find it is pretty hard to do depending on where you live. You will NEED an atty to prepare the adoption papers and file for termination of rights. Start looking for a good Family atty.
