My husband of 5 years has just moved out. We have a mortgage
And I'm not going to be able to pay the whole thing. What responsibility does he have to still make any payment?

This is more of a family law legal issue now, not so much relationships, but as far as I know (volunteer in a Legal Aid clinic) you are going to have to wait three months (in Texas, US, check the law if you live somewhere else!) if you want to file for divorce, and in the divorce you can ask what will happen with the house... normally in situations where there is a house involved but no party wants and can keep it by themselves, they just sell the house and give each party 50% of what it was sold for. But, look for a Legal Aid close to you, (they are everywhere in the US) just Google it, and is a free lawyer session, so that he/she can recommend what your next step should be.

    Good Luck,

    Hello S:

He has a responsibility to the bank. If you have children he has a responsibility to make sure they don't become homeless. Other than that, he's not obligated to keep you in the lifestyle you have become accustomed to.

Certainly, his credit will go into the tank. But, divorces have a tendency to do that to it's participants.
