How long should we wait to adopt

Hi there my fiance wants to adopt my children.. how long do we have to wait in florida to start this process after we are married?? How dificult is this? My ex just doesnt want to pay child support anymore. He has told me to send the paperwork and he weill sign whatever I send. Is this going to be reason enough to proceed? Will the judge ask why? If anyone has any advice at all please let me know.

Hello beach:

How long???? What's wrong with NOW??? Go hire a family attorney. If you haven't waited long enough, he'll tell you. However, I don't think there's any waiting period in any case.

Some states do have a waiting period for after you get married.

But you NEED an attorney to prepare the adoption papers so start looking for one NOW. once you find someone, they will tell you what the timing has to be.
