How come reciepents of SSI don't pay child support?

My son is 16 months old and I was denied child support due to his father being on SSI. I think its not fair and he still can work and make money but he doesn't help support his son in anyway. Even people that are retired and get social security can have child support taken out. My son's father is still making more babies with 5+ kids and more on the way. I am a single mom busting my butt to support my son with help from my parents. I can't terminate his rights because I will lose my medical, also I was told by many people to go ahead and take him to court. I wasted my time and effort to achieve something like this but to have what felt like a big law book thrown at my face. I was told by my county that I could call the social security office to see if I can get benefits for my son but that was a big fat NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2. All of your information is wrong. Do you even know what "SSI" and "SSDI" stand for?

If you are in her shoes and need advice then the correct thing to do is start your own thread, not piggyback on someone elses.

The legal experts on this board are top notch, I'd trust any one of them with my legal concerns.

What are your legal qualifications?

GV70 is absolutely right on this. There are two forms SSI and SSDI and as said the custodial parent isn't entitled to anything with SSI. If it is SSDI then the child can recieve the benefit as well. Dawn... if you have a question please start your own thread and we will be happy to address it there.

GV70 agrees: AGREE-gv70 is always right-haha

The post is 5 months old; the OP has never returned.

You state that you're "in her shoes" yet you don't understand social security, or you wouldn't have posted something as asinine as "one you get if you worked in the country one if you never did."

I have no idea what the connection between "I am an American citizen" and "I do know what SSI and SSDI stand for" might be. Also you did not refer to SSI and SSDI initially - you had the initials wrong.

You seem to think you know more than the legal experts on this Board - what is your background (and you seem to have missed the spelling/punctuation classes on your way to your degree)?
