I have been getting on this site during 3rd period in school and the school only blocks like myspace and stuff not this and the reason my dad got so mad was because he looked in my coat pocket and there was a pack of ciggerets in there and thats why i was in trouble and i dont think thats a good reason to hit me with a belt i mean yes its illegal that i have them but i am going to be 18 in January and i will bye my own then but thank you for ur advice it has helped kind of like i tod my consolor and showed her my marks and she was shocked that cys hasnt done alot so she called someone from the state and they are taking care of it. The consolor called my mother and told her to watch her back too tho because she said that my dad is a very angry person and she said something about when u talk to my dad he doesnt look at u and thats a sign she doesnt trust him and shes scared for me so i guess shes going to help me out but what do u guys know about a PFA?

I think your mom would have to get it since you are 17.
In my state you go to court and get a temporary one and then you have to go back and get a
regular one.
With a PFA I see many moms going for a PFA and still keep contact with the one they have the PFA on. I have known some moms that will even let the guy stay in the house with them and then expect the police to back up the PFA at the moms convenience but that ain't the way it works.
With a PFA you are not even suppose to give a message to aunt Mary to give to him
or visa versa.

How often has your dad been hitting you? Because it seems to be around this incident that the drama has occurred. You state that it wasnt a good enough reason to hit you ? What kind of punishment do you think you should have gotten ? Should he have called the police and had you arrested and thrown in jail along with the person that sold / bought the cigarettes for you ? It is a crime and smoking is bad for you anyway. You seem to take light that your doing something illegal and for most parents thats a shocking moment to see such disregard in your child. Please realize that cigarettes are a drug and a gateway to many other things. And right now rolling your eyes and thinking " oh please " isnt going to help your situation. And the not looking at someone is 1 of 2 things. 1 either someone is lieing to you if they wont look at you or they are blowing you off because they dont want to listen. It may surprise you but when alot of the adults you know were in school it actually was commonplace for corporal punishment ( that means getting spanked ) at school. Now yes he took it to far if he left marks on you and thats a fact. But you really need to look in the mirror and ask yourself what your decisions are really doing to the world around you. What would you have done if you found your UNDERAGE child smoking ? Go out and celebrate by buying them a carton or 2 ? We parents try our best to prepare our children for the world but in the end the children have to make responsible decisions for themselves because no one can make them for you. I hope your situation works out for the best but try to get yourself back on track because right now your showing signs of heading in the wrong direction. My advice may not be of a legal nature and its free so take it how you want. But get off the path your on and start getting real because your making bad decisions like smoking.

Hello girl:

Yes, you could be committing a misdemeanor. HE, on the other hand, is committing a felony. Do you know the difference? A misdemeanor is a minor crime – a felony is a MAJOR one.

No, you shouldn't smoke. But, that's not what you asked.

He should never raise his hand to you again. He may very well be put in jail for his assault on you already. THAT should stop him in his tracks.

I dunno what a PFA is. Is it some sort of protection order??? That ain't gonna do you much good, because the two of you live together. Nope, the state ought to put a scare into him. Let's hope.

Courtney,
Glad to hear from you again. I'm also glad our advice has helped you. Yes people have come on here and made up stories, but we still try to give them the benefit of the doubt as we have done with you. It sounds like you are getting the help you need and I'm glad for that.

Can you tell us what PFA stands for? That might help us help you further.

To Califdad
I think you went overboard here. If I caught my daughter with a pack of cigarettes I would try to educate her onthe dangers. I would not beat her with a strap so that it would leave marks. C'mon give me a break here. Please don't even begin to try and justify what her father did.

N0help4u agrees: Protection From Abuse. I agree: even with people coming here and making stories the replies can help other with the problem. I do believe she does have the prob. too

Scott I wasnt making excuses for how far he went with a spanking and I did say he went to far with what he had done. But that doesnt excuse bad behavior in the first place. Its never been 2 wrongs make a right. Im just trying to bring light to a situation that may not be clear minded at times.
As always thanks for your comments..
