help my boyfriend getting custody of his son

my boyfriend and his son mother are going through a rough time.She put him on child support even though he take care of his son. And she want let him see his son at all.He call and she says no or shes bot there. And the only time she calls is when see leaving him crazy messages. So can you please tell what can he do to get his son away from her.From my understabding is that she is not mentally capable of taking care of her son.Please help!
