Hi, the man that has made me pregnant , told me the other day, that he si going to sign off his rights to the baby as soon as he can. He also claims , if he does that , he doesn't have to pay any child support for his son. He doesn't want anything to do with my sone, our me, which is fine, but is it true that he can just sign off his rights, and not be responsible?? Please help me

He just thinks he can just sign away his rights.

    He's probably wrong.

Even if he DOES sign away his parental rights, though, he will still have parental obligations, such as child support.

He can sign over his rights, but he will have no say in what goes on with the child.

However, he will still be responsible for paying child support. It will still be his child, he just won't have any rights to it. :)

He is lying to you to get out of paying child support. He has to pay. He can give up his custodial rights, but he'll still have to pay.

It's a cliché, but "you play, you pay".

Let him sign away his rights, don't contest it at all, let the jerk have no rights to your child. He won't be able to make the rest of your life miserable. And if you want to allow him to see and have a relationship with the child later because by some miracle he becomes a decent person and you feel that would be best then you can do that and it can be at on your terms. But he is sadly (I'll cry later) out of luck with not paying child support. The court will not allow him to relinquish that responsibility! Yeah for you!
