Child support, custody

I'm having a baby in a few months, and the father and I are no longer together. I don't want child support from him, and I will be the one to provide insurance for the child. He's not abusive or on drugs, but he's not very responsible, doesn't keep jobs very well, and he's really bad with money. On top of that, he lives with a friend of his...and I'm not entirely sure where they live. Does he legally have the right to access my child whenever he wants?
