My husband has a little girl who is 4 she lives with her mother. We have just found out that his ex-wife is dating a convicted felon and living with his daughter. Is this OK and is there anything we can do about this?

I have no idea about sex offenders in Illinois. Please post the Law because this is difficult to understand. Is OP in Illinois?

In general it depends on the crime and, more, importantly, if the "convicted felon" is a DANGER to the child - mentally or physically.

If there is a concern the father MUST go back to Court, present EVIDENCE and request that the custody/visitation arrangement be reviewed and modified.

On the legal threads, yes, I am going to do "this" to every post you make which is incorrect (to the extent that the entire thread had to be closed) or has nothing to do with the question.

The fact that sex offenders are not restricted from living with children in Illinois has nothig to do with the question whether "a convicted felon [no idea what the felony arrest/conviction is for] live in the household which is not his." An under 18-year old had the best answer - what was the crime?

In Illiniois my advice would be the same if the question pertained to a convicted (felony) sex offender - IF THE OFFENDER IS A DANGER TO THE CHILD GO BACK TO COURT AND REQUEST A CHANGE IN CUSTODY/VISITATION.

We who post on the legal threads take great pride in our answers - we are all educated, experienced or employed in the legal profession and many who are not have great research (and understanding) skills and can interpret the law as it pertains to the question.

We can also back up what we post, as it pertains to the question.

We also don't leave forever and come back the next day. That's why FrChuck and I (combined) have (last time I looked) over 40,000 posts combined. Then if I add the other legal experts...

Most all members are allowed to post on various topics. With the exception of the "Law" boards. Unless you have extensive knowledge of law, or better yet, are a lawyer, then it does no one any good to clutter up the board with speculation and outright guessing.

There are "real experts in law" here. Let them have a go at it.

You don't know what CONTINENT this person lives on, much less a particular State.

We all were new here too.

We all had to learn the right way to use this site.

No, it's a case of giving correct advice to people who are in need of correct medical or legal advice. No need to leave - just try to stick to topic and give sound advice. Or go on the conversation threads where it's all about opinons.

All other topics (except medical) are purely opinion (with the possible exception of thinking that kissing is statutory rape).

Please don't use prohibited language on the legal threads - it's not necessary. And - for the third time - if you don't want to be a part of the site, don't want to post - sign off and don't sign back on.

No, I'm sorry, but I don't know that by education or experience - I DO know that kissing is not statutory rape. I realize you think it is. I also don't know that ALL 15 year old girls dating 18 year old boys are having intercourse or planning to do so.

I'm not condoning anything. Reread what has been posted. The question was asked, the question was answered. I "simply" said (as did "Jake") that you jumped to the conclusion that intercourse was involved by calling the 18 year old a rapist.

He is not. I'm not saying he isn't unstable. I'm saying he's not a rapist.

I have deleted several posts, it is easier to clean up if we will not address bad posts but merely report them, Now of course replys to them remain, cut and pastes remain, which almost ruin this good question.

It got way off track on rape, we don't know he is not a bank robber or a cattle rustler.

Agreed excon, merely being a felon does not stop you, if you were convicted of a child abuse or a sexual crime with a child, your probation or parole may have restrictions
