Father can't afford outrageous Child support

Need to know where my step son can go to obtain free or discounted help. He is so far behing on child support payments that he can not even live. The courts decided that someone that makes $16 an hour should pay $700 dollars a month support which is close to what my ex pays for 2 children and he makes over $100K per year. He is willing to allow his daughters step-father to adopt and the step-father is willing to adopt. He is aware and willing to pay off the back child support. When he gets a job the garnishment takes everything he makes and he can't support himself much less his current family. What are his options and will allowing the step parent to adopt his daughter going to stop the child support to continue?

it he wants to give up all his rights and never see his daughter again, yes he can allow the step parent to adopt and that will stop the child support.

child support is based off of his pay, so if he is maing alot less ona new job, he can petition the court for reduced payment.

But his child support is only about 25 percent of his income, which is really close to what many pay in courts today.

If your ex pays only that much making 100,000 sounds like you needed a better lawyer.

But I know some whose support payment is close to 1/2 of thier pay.
