    Back child support and social security disability back pay
    I live in Texas and I am making court ordered payments fro back child support for a non-minor child. I will be receiving social security disability soon and was wondering since I am making payments will my social security back pay be garnished?:confused:

    They can, yes. And why is a non-minor getting child support? I as under the impression that child support is for CHILDREN unless there are special conditions.

    Yep, they sure can-and if you are receiving disability insurance benefits, they'll also take a portion of our check if your past due benefits aren't enough to pay the back amount. You owe, apparently, court ordered support from a time frame when your children were minors (back child support).
