fathers rights to access?

hi, i recently seperated from a violent partner, im am 26wks pregnant.

my ex is now being prosecuted for GBH, i dont want him anywhere near my child, he already has a 3yr old daughter who he has punched in the face and locked in a cupboard for hours.
if i dont have him on the birth certificate does he still have the same rights to access?

im scared he will harm my baby and would prefer if she could decide to see him when she is old enough.

thanks

Amy

not putting him on the b/c isn't the answer. He still has the same rights, he will just need to exercise them.

What you need to do is file for full custody and block visitation. With his record that shouldn't be hard.

Scott's right...not putting him on the birth cerificate really does nothing.

All he would have to do is request a paternity test, if the results prove he is the father he can be added the birth certificate.

You need to get an attorney...start setting consultations now (you can find many that offer free consultations)...get everything ready for when the baby is born and do as Scott said, file for full custody and blocked visitation.
