| Adivce on Enrolled Native American Children with a Non Enrolled Mother I need advice.
My sister in law, she has 2 babies, and the father of them is an Enrolled Native American with the Mill Lacs Band in Minnesota.
The babies were born in Oklahoma. Her and her boyfriend are still together, however, next month, they are moving back to Minnesota on the Reservation. The father of the children wants to enroll them into the tribe.
She is only 19 and unsure what her rights are, should she allow the children to be enrolled and then in the future. what if they break up. She is concerned that he would get the children since they would be on a reservation, and enrolled, where as she would not be enrolled since she is not a Native American.
Any advice? Would her parental rights be severely diminished due to the fact that the father and the children would be enrolled? Should she avoid enrolling them?
Any help would be truly appreciated.
Thank you,
