beginner skateboarder having trouble

I used to skate when I was younger like 13,14. All I could really do is ollie and ride pretty good. So i'm 16 now and started back up again. I can still ollie pretty easily. So i'm trying to pop shuvit, and that's a fairly easy trick to do I think. I just can't do it. Whenever I try the board always lands away from me. It's so frustrating because I don't know why the board won't just stay underneath me. Same thing goes when I attempt a kickflip or heelflip. I can flip the board perfectly for both tricks, but the board ALWAYS lands somewhere else. What am I doing wrong?
