Replacing a washer tray?

I am working on replacing a vinyl floor with a ceramic tile floor (you can see this in another thread that I've started recently).

I have just removed all of the vinyl floor and I am ready to start the actual project. This room also has our washer/dryer system. Our old floor had a washer tray permanently installed, including a floor drain in the middle of it (fully plumbed). The tray was cracked and damaged; so it's been removed.

Although I am sorely tempted to simply cut the plumbing and cap it (i.e., remove the drain entirely), my wife wants to keep the floor drain and she'd like a permanently mounted washer tray. I've gone to Home Depot and Lowe's and they only have non-permanently mountable (i.e., removable) washer trays.

Any suggestions of places where I could get a permanent washer tray?

My basement project required creating several soffits to enclose existing ventilation ducts. One of these runs a considerable distance (30 + feet) across one wall. On the front edge of this I assumed that I would install traditional corner bead, but that would require "joining" in at least one spot. I haven't ever tried to create a joint with corner bead, and I don't know it it is really a big deal or not.

Is there another solution to span this distance without a joint? I know that corner bead comes in some longer sections, but even that would require a joint. Any assistance would be appreciated!!!

I have notice a noise on my second floor that seam to be comming from the wall or ceiling. I sound exactly like s wall light switch being turned on or off. A sort of click. Is is always the same degree of loudness, and happens every 3 to 4 minutes. It seams to be more frequent in the moring but doses accure all day long. My house is about twenty years old. I just started to notice it within the last month or so. Its not my PVC piping in my wall and floor, I had a plumber verify that different noise last winter. It was due to thermal expansion as hot water rain through the plastic drain pipe from my shower. I orginally thought it might be duct work but the noise seems to orginate where there is no ductwork present. Could it be an electrcial issue. Im thinking about turnning off all my power to see if I still hear the noise. I am loosing sleep over this. Is this a seroius problem or is it normal. If its normal I can live with it.

I am in the middle of a remodel of a standard 1500 sq ft single story track home. I wish to add a soffit around the living room to hold can lights and add some interest to the 10" ceilings. I intend to repeat the soffit design to the master bedroom that has 8' ceilings. Yes, I realize I have to raise the ceiling joists in the master bedroom as a soffit would make the already low 8' ceilings even lower. So the bottom of the soffit in the master bedroom will be 8'.
My issue is I don't know how to size the soffit so it doesn't look stupid in both the living room and master bedroom. 8" vertical drop and 16" horizontal from the wall. I don't know and am only guessing.
HELP!!
