I just had my l940s house shingled and I don't know how many times it was done. We have been here for 8 years. I imagine it would need a good look to see if all plywood pieces are in good shape or not.

Not if the original sheeting is able to hold the new fasteners,(nails, staples etc)

    Some roofs have plywood,some 1X spaced boards,etc.

Depending on your local and the builder, you might not need anything more than a few replacement pieces.

Have the roofer take digital pics(or look at the roof when its torn off),to see the exact condition of your wood decking.

You do not have to sheet the entire roof, if there are bad spots simple cut them out and replace only that. If your roof has wood shakes on it you may have to sheet the entire thing, if it has 1x6 or 1x12 slats for sheeting thoes can be left if the gaps are 1in. Or less. Otherwise sheet over them.
