| Nixidan, semi gloss and satin are both the finish of a paint not types of paint. I use Benjamin Moore paints quite a bit and use gloss for door and window frames in bathroom, semi gloss for much of the windo trim, maybe eggshell and then satin for walls. I think you should be wording this more like should you use acrylic latex or oil based paints on backer board. I'd answer acylic latex.
