    Couch bugs?
Last week I found about 20 bumps/ insect bites on my body after falling asleep on the couch for 4 hours. I thought it might be my bed because I didn't notice them until the following morning. Although when I slept on the couch again without a pillow (my face on the couch) I had 6 bites on my face. Both incidents were later in the evening. Obviously I have not slept on the couch since or even sat on it, and I have not gotten any more bites. :) but I haven't seen any bugs although I could feel them crawling and I was incredibly itchy well sitting on the couch. Does anyone know what these critters could be? Also today when I got home my brother said he saw a small black bug that looked like a beetle perhaps 1/2the size of a lady bug crawling on his arm. Could this be the mystery bug?

They could be bed bugs. Here is a pic if you can identify, if not do a Google search for couch bugs because I saw a lot of info about them there, too much to post. If you have animals, fleas would also be a safe consideration.http://img.timeinc.net/time/daily/20...edbugs1202.jpg

Oh wow defintely bed bugs... one of my neighbors got those somehow and then almost passed it to us when she came to visit us at our house. She had been telling us the same symptoms as you said such as consistent itchness and then red swelling and soon enough our couch had them too. We threw it out as soon as we noticed so I recommend you to get rid of it immediately!! I researched on them when the same thing began with us and they are dreadful they spread like wildfire ending up on the carpet and bedrooms to the point where your bed will also become invaded and then there's no way to clean it because they live inside the only way probably.. is if they haven't reached it... and if you haven't gone from your couch directly to your bed is to wrap them in thick plastic or maybe a specialized cover? I don't know you might have to research on that.. but be careful if there are any small children in your home.
